"A Time to Reflect"

15" x 30" Oil on Linen

Because of popular entertainment, most of our exposure to what people think was happening in the Old West is full of action with a lot of attendant noise.  I can certainly understand that approach.  Peace and quiet has never really been entertaining.  But there was a lot of mundane peace and quiet, thankfully.  Native peoples kept their spiritual feeling about themselves every waking moment.  Communing with the spirits that filled each and everything in nature was second nature to their lives.  This camp on the prairie near a pot-hole is quiet and peaceful now with the sounds of people living free.
