"Big Mick's Saloon"
6" x 12" Oil on Masonite Panel
I openly admit that I love this theme and so did a lot of other people. I enjoy seeing the effect of moonlight on objects; how details disappear into the dark and colors are turned to a grey-blue hues within their normal colors. It is easy to catch the hint of mystery. And, of course, the painting is alive because of the shafts of yellow orange light stabbing through the darkness. This is the only one of this particular subject I painted on artist's grade Masonite. The panel is gessoed well and can be sanded if you wish but I sort of liked the tooth the paintbrush left in the cured gesso Three of a kind - all cowboys! |
