"Buffalo"

11" x 14" Oil on Linen

A wonderful, dangerous, and iconic animal is the Bison, otherwise known as the Plains Buffalo.  This middle aged bull stands and surveys the world about him.  He is not a fast thinker but he is instinctively aware of the many dangers around him, including, but not limited to wolves, coyotes, hunters and the challenge of other bulls.  He will react accordingly.  Cow Birds who hunt for ticks on his hide and watch for insects stirred up in his wake are in attendance.

When the famous Montana Artist Charlie Russell found about about the new Indian nickel minted with the Buffalo on one side, he was said to have exclaimed,

"That's a lot of meat for a Nickel!"
