"How the News Was Spread"

16" x 20" Oil on Linen

There are people alive who can still remember the days without radio and television or cell phones and computer tablets who actually communicated the news by talking in close proximity to one another.  Sometimes it involved the use of graphics, applied to the dirt with a stylus called a sharp stick.  I am not so young that I cannot remember drawing maps into the dirt while giving directions.  Or watching as adults described just about anything using those same old methods.
