"Mesa Girls"
8" x 10" Oil on Masonite Panel
Hopi maidens gather atop a pueblo after a ceremony and watch the village life breathe and reflect on what has transpired during the ceremony and dance. They are arrayed in the Hopi fashion of the day and occasion and wear the "Squash Blossom" hairdos that signify their unmarried state. The young lady holds a clay water jug which will be filled at the spring and available for morning. |
