"Moving to a New Camp"

6" x 12" Oil on Linen

From the Steppes of Mongolia to the Great Plains of America, being a nomad had it's demands.  However, the positives outweighed the negatives.  It was a lot of work but it was work that you expected without thinking it was work - it was just the way of life you knew.  The move produced new grass for your horses, new food to gather or to hunt, an environment that was yet to get worn down as a campsite, and it got the blood flowing in your veins.  Moving was a regular activity that came with the seasons, the weather, the dangers and the beliefs of the people.
