"Sawtooth Range and Decker Flat"
6" x 12" Oil Sketch on Canvas
This is a oil sketch of the Sawtooth Valley near Obsidian where I built my Log Home. It was painted for a young friend of ours and his new bride as their wedding gift. Decker Flat was named in memory of a old miner who frequented the area many years ago. It takes little imagination to figure out how the Sawtooth Range got it's name. The stands of timber in the far distance is where I cut the logs for my home. This is close to the same view from the front windows of the cabin which is located about a mile North (to the right.) I never got used to the view. There was a dedication to the couple on the lower left corner of the original which I have removed for their privacy. The two Eagles in the sky are symbolic of their union. |
