The Miss Native American competition is an Inter-tribal event to choose a young lady of Native American heritage who best exemplifies the personal qualities required to represent America's Indian Nations for the coming year.  The Pageant is designed to promote and develop leadership skills among America's Native women and to promote self-esteem and pride among other goals.  The requirements are rigid and the competition is tough.  The young Lady chosen is honored as the standard not only for young girls but ultimately for the entire body of Native American Nations.
