There are literally thousands of  stories contained within the various Indian cultures in North America.  Since there was little if any "writing" containing details, Indian people relied on the spoken word to carry their tradition forward to each new generation.  The stories were the vehicles to teach civics, morality, religion, history, and the information needed for youngsters to develop a sense of who they were and why they came to be who they were.  Wren, Deer and the Wolves is part of Yakima lore.
