"The Long Time Wait"

One of the instinctive habits of people who lived on the plains where the visibility went forever, was to watch for dust rising in the distance.  When it was seen it was either a good sign or a bad sign.  This wife is awaiting the return of her husband.  Distances were great and time was of no essence most of the time.  But missing the presence of a loved one is universal and she watches for the dust of his return.
