There was little to break the activity of daily life along the Missouri.  About the most exotic thing you could expect would be a visit from down river by traders or someone totally unexpected.  The daily life of Native Peoples could be rather seamless in concept, just like our own,  but not without excitement or importance.  Watching the river might have been the frontier version of watching old reruns on TV.
